LAFAYETTE, IN – November 7, 2019 – The Lafayette Aviators have announced the departure of General Manager, Zach Chartrand.
“I have very much enjoyed my time in Lafayette but I am at a point in my life where it makes sense to return home to Wisconsin,” said Chartrand.
Zach moved to Lafayette from Milwaukee, WI in early 2017 to manage the team when it was owned by Milwaukee-based MKE Sports & Entertainment. He stayed with the Aviators when the team was sold just prior to the 2018 season to the current ownership group which includes local residents, experienced team operators and Purdue University alumni.
“The combination of strong ownership and Zach’s leadership proved to be a winning formula.” stated Aviators Chairman Bill Davidson. “Zach did an exceptional job refocusing the organization on grass roots community involvement. His leadership was a driving factor in the Aviators setting an all-time attendance record last summer.”
“It is difficult leaving at such an exciting time for the team and community – coming off a tremendous final season at Historic Loeb Stadium, the upcoming 2020 season at Purdue’s Alexander Field, and the construction of the brand new Loeb Stadium – but at the same time, I am excited to return to Milwaukee to start my next adventure, including getting married and buying a house,” continued Chartrand.
He added, “I’m confident in where we’re at as a team, the support of our community, and the staff that we have in place. I am looking forward to watching the team and community continue to grow for many years to come and can’t wait to come back to check out a game as a fan.”
The team is currently in the process of interviewing candidates to lead the Aviators organization and expects to name a new General Manager in the coming weeks.
