As two 21 year olds from Chicago attending Purdue University, we decided to open a restaurant that filled the glaring need for that unique Chicago cuisine. We set out to serve and deliver the basic Chicago favorites; Chicago style hot dogs, gyros, and Italian beef. Along the way we realized that it would be a shame not to have unique burgers and chicken sandwiches to add our own twist to Chicago style food. Since 2008 we have been perfecting our menu to help meet the needs of our customers. As always, one of the best things about AJ’s is our food will be delivered to you, no matter where you are, at almost any hour.

At Apple American, the community we serve reaches from Bangor, Maine, in the east to Chula Vista , CA, in the west, encompassing countless cities and neighborhoods. It includes our team members and their families as well as the guests that dine at our restaurants. As an organization, we're committed to taking care of our own and giving back to our community. We do this through the Family Fund, as well as our ongoing support of numerous charities, Alex's Lemonade Stand, the Special Olympics, and Make a Wish.

In addition to an extensive menu, BRU offers local beers and spirits along with well known favorites.  Conveniently located near Purdue's Campus in the Marq development, BRU Burger Bar is the tenth BRU location for Cunningham Restaurant Group.

In 1951, Bruno Itin immigrated to Indiana from his own home in Switzerland. Upon his arrival, he found a job working construction in Gary, where he worked for two years. During this time Bruno took a second job as a baker at the Famous Flamingo restaurant where he continued to practice the trade he originally learned in Switzerland. Bruno left Gary in 1953 and moved to South Bend where he was employed at the Volcano restaurant until 1955. It was during this time that Bruno met his wife Evelyn. Bruno and Evelyn moved to West Lafayette, a college town without any pizza places at the time, and established their own restaurant. Bruno's Pizza opened just 10 days after their wedding day in 1955. When the restaurant first opened, Bruno's now famous pizza was the only item served. As the restaurant grew, Bruno added a variety of unique Swiss, Italian, German, and American dishes to the menu. Bruno's new building features Big O's Sports Room as well as rooms with the Swiss design of the old restaurant. Today, the restaurant is owned and operated by Bruno's two sons, Orlando and Bruno Junior, and daughter Tina.

Crabby Mike's BBQ started out as a hobby for Mike Kerkhoff (Crabby Mike). He really enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and for others. But his behavior at family dinners is what got him the "Crabby Mike" nickname. He would do too much, give the kids too many orders, and was even called "Psycho" by the kids at several Thanksgivings. On vacation, we found a cup for him with a crab on it with the words "Property of the Old Crab." This seemed appropriate. As the business started, the name "Crabby Mike's BBQ" was adopted. He still has that cup. After getting licensed in food prep, Crabby Mike got so busy with catering orders, he decided he needed a real big smoker.
